What is a doula?

A doula is a non-medical birth professional who offers physical, emotional, and informational support.

Birth Doula

A birth doula will work with your family before and during childbirth. A birth doula will help you plan for your labor and will be present during labor offering emotional, physical, and informational support throughout.  A birth doula adds to your birth team by giving objective and experienced support that focuses on you and your partner.

Postpartum Doula

A postpartum doula will work with your family after your baby has been born. A postpartum doula will assist with/offer evidence-based information about birth recovery, breastfeeding, and basic newborn and birth-parent care.  A postpartum doula will also offer emotional support through the postpartum transition and will help with basic household tasks.
